Sized to the problem, not to a methodology
Every health and care organisation we've ever worked with has a slightly different version of the same set of pressures. We are deliberately built to size each engagement to the specific problem in front of us - from a single diagnostic conversation to a multi-year transformation programme. The same engagement spectrum works across all three of our practice areas.
The engagement spectrum
- Diagnose - A short, structured piece of work to understand the question and the system around it. Two to six weeks. Deliverables: a board-ready diagnostic with clear findings, options and a recommendation.
- Strategise - A strategy or plan the board can decide on and the executive can deliver. Three to four months. Deliverables: a strategy with named owners, measurable outcomes and a credible delivery route.
- Plan - Turning strategy into a phased, costed, ownable programme.
- Deliver - Embedded programme leadership and expertise alongside your team for as long as the programme runs.
- Embed - Capability transfer, evaluation and disciplined hand-back to internal leaders.
The spectrum works the same way across all three of our practice areas - population health, workforce and transformation. Many of our best engagements draw on more than one practice at once - with a single accountable client relationship across all of them.
Why this works
- It lets you start small. Most engagements we are proudest of started as a single conversation about a single question.
- It lets you scale on evidence. You commission the next stage only because the previous one earned the right to be commissioned.
- It links strategy to delivery. By the time we reach Deliver, you are working with a team that already understands your context.
- It builds your team. Each stage is designed to leave more capability behind it than the previous one.
How engagements get going
- A first conversation - 30 minutes, no obligation, usually with a director.
- A short scoping note - what you're trying to achieve, what we propose to do, the team, the timescale and the price.
- Mobilisation - typically inside two weeks of a signed scope.
- Disciplined delivery - regular touchpoints with the sponsor, transparent reporting, no surprises.
Want to talk about an engagement?
Most of our engagements start with a 30-minute call. We'll either tell you how we'd approach the problem - or honestly tell you that someone else is a better fit.
